Promises & Smiles

by Golden Teardrops

1.
Save some for a rainy day When the winter’s here Everybody has fun When they take their coats out for an evening run Save some for a rainy day When the spring comes near All the streets in our town Seem to brighten up the weary stars above CHORUS: And I feel that it’s getting closer I hear the wind and it’s getting colder Watch the waves and they’re getting bigger The weather’s changing, we gotta find something to do REFRAIN: What should I do? Where should I be when the rain falls? All the fun is gone as the seasons go You gotta save something really good (something good) Save some for a rainy day When the summer hits, you don’t need to stay in When you wake up, you embrace the morning sun (REPEAT CHORUS)
2.
When I saw you standing there with a lonely stare Boy, you better believe I can't take my eyes out of you It's a Sunday afternoon when we first held hands Truly I felt like I'm in heaven CHORUS: Always going away, you're slipping away I can't let that go on Always slipping away, you're going away I can't let that go on Oh I love the way you look and the way you smile I dig all your record collection, I'm so fond of you But when you said you had to go and take the Monday train How I wish it's Sunday and you will fall from heaven (CHORUS) BRIDGE: Now I hope to see you soon How I wish you could be something that I'd always have
3.
You're keeping me waiting You know it's not easy You know it's that bad Staring at the ceiling Biding my time I start to hide CHORUS And when the world stops turning You know that I'll come knocking at your door You see the times are changing Come hold my hand and let's just laugh at it Blue skies above me I thought of your smile While driving my car Let's meet at the station The train will arrive I won't leave you behind (REPEAT CHORUS)
4.
I know that you've been lonely for a long time But now that I'm back here in your arms I can hold you so tight I think it's supposed to rain tonight I stood beside my window And it's foggy, it's cold outside I feel the tears trickle from my eyes I think it's supposed to rain tonight BRIDGE: One day we can see the sun come shining through I can only pray Gentle morning, clearer skies, we'll see them soon Please stay, it's just fair
5.
You used to be a stranger, now you’re my best friend. Since you came along, you got me smiling, leaving all my troubles behind. I used to be a stone, now I’m soft like a cloud. Since you came along, you gave me chances, you gave me joy. REFRAIN: And when the nights seem uninviting A ray of hope can make them brighter than the whitest snow CHORUS: Ooh, I can’t get enough of you. Ooh, I can’t be apart from you. Ooh, I’m telling you it’s true. I used to be a drifter, like a passerby Since you came along, I haven’t been hiding, leaving all my worries behind. I used to be so low, now I’m high as a kite. Yeah, I felt a spark. You know I knew it from the start. REPEAT REFRAIN Ooh, I can’t get enough of you. Ooh, I can’t be apart from you. Ooh, I can’t get enough of you. Ooh, I can’t be apart from you. Ooh, I’m telling you it’s true.
6.
Sinking slowly. What have you done? Softly shrinking. Where did your heart go? You’ll never really know how much I need you. Breaking gently. The nights get lonely. Lightly twisting, you hurt me so. You’ll never really know how much I need you. Breaking gently. The nights get lonely. Lightly twisting, you hurt me so. You’ll never really know how much I need you.
7.
Summer is over, the wind is getting colder. Are you ready to have some fun? I’ll spend some time in your arms. A gentle breeze is knocking, the bright lights they are shining. Don’t go hiding, let’s start smiling. The best days are coming soon. CHORUS: Just when we thought the day is done. We spent time in the sinking sun. When the weather changes, it lights our way. Good things everyday.
8.
Gone were the days when I stood there alone in the rain I used to cry but when you came in you brightened the sky A stroll in the park, it’s never the same when I’m walking with you We strum our guitars, never complaining when it gets dark CHORUS: I could tell that you’re falling for me By the way you smile I’d spend time kissing, laughing with you, only you. BRIDGE: And when the stars come down, you’ll hold me close No wasted minute each day Not even when we’re sleeping, even when we’re dreaming, Even when we close our eyes Driving in the sin has never been better with you by my side Spend a day in the room, playing our records, keeping in tune (REPEAT CHORUS) With you..only you
9.
Won’t you come outside, it’s nice and warm Feeling satisfied, let’s go for a ride It’s getting better each day Won’t you come with me, it’s a good day for a walk Reading books and things could wait for a while It’s getting better each day CHORUS: When the sun is shining bright, we watch its glow Jolly tunes, the hit parade. A perfect sunny day BRIDGE: It’s just not the same when you’re not around It’s a feeling I can’t explain. Come here and hold my hand, let’s sit close to the park Singing songs while drawing lines, it’s not like we’re wasting time It’s getting better each day (REPEAT CHORUS 2X) It’s getting better each day.
10.
Tryin' to find the pieces of our love but I can’t, no I can’t. Tryin' to find the pieces of our love but I can’t, no I can’t. (Since you left me boy) I’ve been better. (Made me feel in fine) I found shelter. (Since you left me boy) It’s been greater. I’m feeling fine.
11.
You don’t need to worry, stop feeling sorry, We can make it happen. Please don’t feel so weary, it’s bringing me down. You can stop your weeping, So we can start dreaming of happy things to do. Look, your eyes are dreary, they’re draggin’ me down. CHORUS: Let’s start talkin’ ‘bout something good. You can take away all your fears. Don’t cry baby, I’ll be there for you. BRIDGE: You never believe at this thing called love. But I can show a lot of things to you. You never get what I’m thinking of. But I can really show you, we can make it all work out. Please don’t take for granted, the love that we have started. The stars are now aligned. There’s no need to doubt it, stop feeling down. REPEAT CHORUS CODA: I’ll be there for you...
12.

On our way. It’s a lovely day. Off to shore. The climate’s warm. Out of place. Seeking space. The mystery ends. I want more. CHORUS: Sometimes I’m in the mood for star signs. And I’m counting all the days when I’m gonna be by your side. The colors fade yesterday. No need to wait. Just jump right in. So it seems like a dream, Under trees of Tangerine. REPEAT CHORUS CODA: Sometimes I’m in the mood for star signs. And I’m counting all the days when I’m gonna be by your side.

about

Golden Teardrops Richmond, California

Golden Teardrops are the husband/wife duo of Ryan and Lei Marquez. Inspired by Brian Wilson’s best work with The Beach Boys, they recorded a demo called “A Summer Escape” in 2005.

With a discernible homage to their 60s pop heroes, along with their indiepop roots, they finished their first album, “Promises & Smiles” on Emma's House Records.
